Nola Trenholm embarks on a fresh start in New Orleans with the purchase of a historic fixer-upper. However, she soon discovers that the house's former residents—ghosts—haven't quite moved on. Without the ability to communicate with the spirits like her stepmother, Nola reluctantly seeks help from Beau Ryan, a man with a troubled past linked to the unsolved murder of a woman who lived in Nola's new home during Hurricane Katrina. Amidst renovation challenges and unresolved histories, Nola finds herself at the heart of mysteries both spectral and corporeal, in a city known for its dead as much as for the living.
