In a world scarred by a brutal civil war over reproductive rights, the divisive Pro-Choice and Pro-Life factions have reached a precarious agreement. Enshrined within the Bill of Life, the sanctity of life is untouchable from conception until age thirteen, but adolescence becomes a vulnerable period where parents can opt for their children to be 'unwound.' Against this dystopian backdrop, 'Unwind' follows the harrowing journey of three teenagers—Connor, Risa, and Lev. Connor, a dissenter facing unwinding due to his rebellious streak; Risa, a ward of the state marked for disposal in the name of budgetary cuts; and Lev, a child tithed for unwinding from his birth as part of religious tradition. Each teen's fate is a death sentence in waiting, their humanity dissolved into a sum of parts to be donated. As their paths fatefully intertwine, a narrative of resistance and survival unfolds. The trio's struggle to escape their destiny interrogates the moral complexities of a society that values life in fragments, questioning the price of peace at the expense of the individual.
